A landmark is a place that is special - or something that identifies where something important happened. Some landmarks are called memorials because they honor people who died for an important cause.
The Carolina Low Country is full of historic landmarks. In fact, if you watch carefully as you drive around our streets and highways, you will see historical markers in lots and lots of places!
Do you know much about the history of our area? Did you know that South Carolina was one of the thirteen original colonies? Did you know the first shots of the Revolutionary War and the Civil War were fired in Charleston? The Carolina Low Country is filled with lots of interesting history?
